Before Uzodinma became governor, Ugochinyere, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the House of Representatives in Ideato, stated that Imo state was the most tranquil in Nigeria.
The CUPP spokesperson compared the state governed by Governor Uzodimma and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the killing fields of Somalia, Borno, and Yobe.
Recall that on Saturday, January 14, 2023, motorcades carrying gunmen and arsonists attacked the residence of Ugochinyere, who is also the PDP candidate for Ideato North South federal seat, in his hometown of Akokwa, where four people, including his uncle, were slain.
Ikenga's violation of the agreement led to the attack, according to Governor Uzodinma's reaction to the occurrence.
In a statement, Ugochinyere expressed regret over the recent situation, saying that Imo under Uzodimma's control is an imitation of what a state government should be.
The current heinous assault on his residence, he added, is proof that the governor has transformed the formerly peaceful state into a killing zone.
He asked the people of Imo to vote against the APC in the upcoming elections in order to cease the killings.
Ugochinyere stated, "I'm depressed; I cry for my people. Since Uzodinma became governor, Imo State and its people have not tasted peace. They have only heard accounts of murder, arson, abduction, and invasion. What they never saw during the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) reign.
"As you may guess, after his aide threatened to kill me if I ever visited Imo state, my home and vehicles were burned down, and my cherished uncle and others were brutally murdered a few days later.
"The Governor, who is responsible for protecting the lives and property of the individuals he rules, is busy making unfounded charges.
"Before he became governor, Imo State was regarded as one of the most tranquil in the nation, but all that has changed. The government has forced the Imo people to see with their ears Uzodinma strives without remorse to frame and ruin his imagined political adversaries with this.
"This Governor poses a significant threat to society and is manifestly unsuitable to remain in office. Under Uzodinma, the slaughter of the Imo appears to have been the norm, rather than the exception. In addition, the administration does not lament the killings, but rather strives to defend them.
"Therefore, as the elections approach, I urge my constituents to vote against the All Progressive Congress in the upcoming election. A guy should not be rendered blind by a stick he can clearly see. A vote for the APC is a strong indication of oncoming peril."
