Arinzechukwu Awogu, a lawmaker, stated on Tuesday that the detention of Nnamdi Kanu is related to the instability in the South-East.

Awogu is the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Anambra's Ogbaru Federal Constituency.

He supports Governor Charles Soludo's appeal for a non-violent response to the region's security concerns.

Soludo had urged the Federal Government to release Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, on January 14. (IPOB).

Awogu, a former chairman of the Ogbaru Local Government Area, believes that Kanu's release would be a step toward achieving peace.

He asked Igbos and anyone who desired the return of peace to support Soludo's efforts to free the troublemaker.

"The arrest and continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is at the heart of the insecurity plaguing the South-East area."

Awogu was quoted by NAN as saying, "His release is crucial to ending the outbreak of instability in the region."
