Barr. Uchenna Orji, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing press on the conclusion of the State Executive Council meeting conducted at the new Exco chamber in Ochudo Centenary city on Monday, January 16, 2023.
Orji said that preliminary testimony from the captured perpetrators of the Ekoli Edda mayhem cleared State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha of any involvement in the crises, according to police records.
Orji stated, "Exco was briefed on the interim police report about the heinous incident that occurred in Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area, as well as the Governor's directive regarding those responsible for the regrettable mayhem that resulted in the loss of lives.
"Exco took note of the police report, which stated that the perpetrators had been captured and would be indicted soon. Exco observed, however, that the suspects' testimonies did not implicate the duo of Hon. Barr. Eni Uduma Chima and Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha in the unnecessary attack.
"EXCO directed that a Peace and Reconciliation Committee comprised of the following individuals be established in the affected area:
