The Campaign Council stated in a statement by the Head of Media, Diran Onifade, that the video clip incorrectly labelled as an assassination attempt on the life of Peter Obi was actually a routine crowd control scene with excited supporters who had gathered to greet him at his alma mater, the University of Nigeria Nsukka, earlier that day.
The statement states, in part, "The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign discredits as false and unsubstantiated accusations of an assassination attempt on our Presidential Candidate today, during his current Enugu State Campaign Rally tour."
Earlier today, he made an appearance at his alma mater, the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he was greeted by a throng of ecstatic admirers. The footage depicted a usual scene of crowd management.
Mr. Peter Obi and his campaign staff are in good health, and the campaign train continues to get a warm reception as it traverses the nation.
