Peter Obi advises Nigerians not to elect a sick president.

The Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has advised Nigerians not to hand over the country's governance to an "ill man" in next month's election.

"This country is sick and should not be given to a sick individual.” I'm not implying that anyone is ill.

"We've been here for more than two hours; we don't want individuals who can't stand for 30 minutes," Mr. Obi stated on Thursday in Enugu.

The LP candidate did not specify any names, but it was clear he was talking to Bola Tinubu, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

Mr Tinubu is said to have health issues and has been spotted stumbling at public engagements, prompting Nigerians to question his eligibility for the top political position.

Mr Obi stated at an interactive session at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, that the next president of Nigeria must have two characteristics: character and trust.

He stressed that the election next month must be based on competency as well as physical and mental energy. He stated that these are the qualifications for leading a country like Nigeria.

"During elections in the United States, they go to debates. Someone once asked Barack Obama personal questions, and he responded.

"But here in Nigeria, somebody wants to fight elections, we don't know his genuine age, we don't know his name, and we don't know the schools he went to.” "Nobody knows his true identity, and he is attempting to lead everyone," the LP candidate continued.

Messrs. Obi and Tinubu will run alongside 16 other contenders in the presidential election on February 25.

Despite fears that the election might be hampered by security issues plaguing the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised that it will go through as planned.
