The man was said to have been murdered just two days before his wedding ceremony on Saturday, January 7.
The young man, who was reported to have returned to Anambra from his base to spend Christmas and New Year, was said to have attended his friend's wedding and also filmed movies with wads of naira notes in his hands, which he intended to spray on his friend.
"After his friend's wedding ceremony on Thursday, about 8 p.m., he drove out of his house and was pursued by shooters," a source claimed.
"They shot him in his hand as he was driving, but he managed to drive off with the wound, but subsequently drove into a ditch.
"It was while he was fighting to get out that the gunmen caught up with him and inquired if he had finished running? They fired him at close range, and he died."
According to the source, the man was buried on Friday since his family members did not want to retain his body for too long.
On Saturday, the man was due to marry in the compound of his wife's parents in Otolo, Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area.
Videos of the man being forced into a casket before his burial have been spreading on social media, as has another in which he declared that he was attending a friend's wedding.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, did not confirm the occurrence.
