At approximately 8 o'clock in the evening, a day after the new year, gunmen who have not yet been recognised are claimed to have shot and killed Okolo in a gas station located within the hamlet.
A video that has been circulating on the internet shows that the influential member of the community was shot while he was sitting inside his SUV. The video also shows him sitting in a pool of his own blood behind the steering wheel of the vehicle.
In the meantime, his murderers have not been identified with certainty.
