On Wednesday, the flag-off ceremony was held in the Governor's country residence, Umunaga Uburu, located in the Ohaozara Local Government Area. There was a significant turnout of party supporters from all over the State for the event.
In his address to the supporters, Governor Umahi remarked that he had acquired not just the capacity but also the experience to represent not only Ebonyi South but also the entirety of Ebonyi State and Ndi Igbo in general. He was speaking specifically about Ebonyi South.
He gave his people and the rest of the state the assurance that they would receive quality representation, that they would be included, and that they would have a proud position in the affairs of the country.
"I am going to the center to fight for the welfare of the people of Ebonyi, including employment, infrastructure, and other related issues. I am going to advocate for the emancipation of the Ebonyi people in this war. We are going to take it through coercion."
In accordance with his commitment to upholding values of equity and justice in the state, the Governor urged residents of Ebonyi South to rally behind the candidate for governor nominated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the right honorable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
He made the announcement that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would begin campaigning for the local government elections in Ebonyi State in 2023 on January 7, 2022.
Shortly after that, Governor Umahi was honored with the presence of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, which was led by Eze Charles Mkpuma of the Southeast Traditional Rulers Council.
