The police command in Anambra has said again that they are committed to keeping people and things safe.

In an interview on Wednesday in Awka, its spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, told people in Anambra to be law-abiding, watchful, and aware of their safety.

Mr. Ikenga said that police commissioner Echeng Echeng was committed to keeping people and property safe in Anambra. He also asked people to follow the rules during the celebrations to make sure that they were safe, peaceful, and went off without a hitch.

He said that the command had increased patrols on major highways, residential areas, places of worship, public resorts, and other dark spots to build trust and stop crime.

Mr. Ikenga says that the command is working with other security agencies and interested parties to make sure there is enough safety and security during and after the holiday season.

The police spokesman said, "The CP wishes the people of Anambra a peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year. He also asks them to use this time to pray for the peace and safety of the state and the country as a whole."

"The command also encourages people to report suspicious people or movements to the nearest police station or the command's emergency number, 112, or call 07039194332 for a quick response," he said.

Mr. Ikenga said that the "NPF Rescue Me" app can also be downloaded for free on Android and Apple IOS for iPhone users.

He reminded everyone that the ban on bangers (also called "knockouts") during the holiday season is still in place and asked everyone to follow the rules.

Mr. Ikegna asked people not to break the law on their own and instead to call the police if they thought someone had done something wrong.
