Jonathan's supporters, members of the Citizens Network for Peace and Development in Nigeria (CNPDN), stated the next president must come from the south.
Led by Francis Okereke Wainwei, the group with support in the South South and South East geopolitical zones said their position was in line with the need for a power shift to the south once President Muhammadu Buhari's term ends on May 29, 2023.
Wainwei, from Bayelsa State, told reporters that their viewpoint was in line with the Northern Governors Forum of the APC and the Southern Governors' Forum, which called for a southern president in 202202.
He said the Southern President will promote national unity, equity, fairness, and justice in 2023.
"Our belief that the next president should be from the South is driven by the same vision and ideas," he said.
"We believe such steps would promote the nation's unity and tranquilly; they will encourage a more harmonious coexistence among Nigerians."
"We were astonished by the betrayal of the Southern Governors, especially the South South Governors, except Nyesom Wike, who had earlier declared for a Southern President, to pursue their own interests instead of the collective interest of the area.
"We call on South-South governors who betrayed their people by backing another Northern candidate to succeed Buhari to resign immediately.
"The South Zone can no longer trust them with their common legacy since they put their personal interests before their people's."
"Our appeal for them to resign is based on the fact that they just got significant sums of money from the 13% derivation fund and spent it on their own interests at the expense of their people."
We ask the South's Houses of Assembly to impeach the governors if they don't quit. horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse horse
""We must place the common interest of our people above our own interests for our region to experience holistic and fast growth."
"To elect a Southern President in 2023, we urge on all our members and people in the South East and South South zones to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu is the easiest way to elect a Southern president in 2023.
He has widespread support and the political experience to lead Nigeria to glory."
Non-partisan Coalition called on members in Rivers State to vote for PDP gubernatorial candidate Siminalayi Fubara.
"We are also utilising this medium to call on our members and the people of Rivers State to vote for PDP gubernatorial candidate Siminalayi Fubara as governor of Rivers State."
The Coalition donated N1 million to Tinubu's two geopolitical zones.
