The command's spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the victims were rescued on December 24 by police operatives from the Iwollo Division, along with assistance from the Neighborhood Watch and forest guards. Ndukwe stated that the information was provided on Sunday, December 25.
"Those rescued in the hands of kidnappers in a forest at Akama-Oghe in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State were three males and one female," Ndukwe said. "They were reported to have been kidnapped along the 9th-Mile/Eke/Akama-Oghe Road on Friday at about 8 p.m." Ndukwe added, "Those rescued in the hands of kidnappers in a forest at Akam
"The police operatives also recovered a black Mercedes Benz car that belonged to one of the victims, while all of the victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families," he said. "All of the victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families."
He further mentioned that the state's Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, had given the order for the tactical operators of the command to investigate and apprehend the kidnap suspects who were running away.
The spokesman for the command emphasised that the kidnappers had fled the scene and abandoned the victims as a result of the investigation and manhunt that had been initiated by the joint security operatives.
