IMSU to graduate 30 first class students, 5,000 others

Thirty students have graduated with First Class honours from the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, and would be decorated at the 8th convocation ceremony of the institution on Saturday.

The school’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uchefula Chukwumaeze, who made the disclosure at the pre-convocation press conference, held at the university auditorium, yesterday, said about 5,000 other students would also participate in the ceremony.

He reiterated that the university management has remained committed in sustaining the school’s academic precedence, adding that instilling discipline, diligence and sound morals in students, for their academic excellence and success in life, cannot be compromised.

The VC also denied reports that the institution had increased its school tuition from N30, 000 to N65, 000 for indigenes, and from N150, 000 to N190, 300 for non-indigenes.

He insisted that the school had no intention to effect any change on current fees in the near future, describing the report as unfounded, unfortunate and handiwork of detractors.
