Herdsmen Attack Enugu Again, Many Killed

On Sunday morning, suspected herdsmen invaded the Ebor, Eha-Amufu village in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, killing a number of individuals and injured a great number of others.

Gabriel Agbo, a youth leader in the area, reported that the attack killed people and that there were more than 100 suspects.

He said, "Today's attack was the worst in Eha-Amufu because there were more herdsmen from Benue State than security officers."

"Our people were caught off guard and killed in the bush like animals; we don't know how many people died yet."

"The attackers came in as early as 6 a.m. today and started shooting; even the security guards were helpless because they couldn't stop them," he said.

"We are still going through the bodies to find out how many people died, so I can't tell you how many people died right now."

"The state government and security forces should help us because our people are being killed on the land of their ancestors." "This afternoon, only one armored tank was sent in, which can't solve the problem because we need more help," he said.

Since January, over 100 people have been killed in the troubled community of Eha-Amufu, and many more have lost their homes.

When asked about the attack, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, a spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, said, "The sketchy report I have shows that there was an attack." But the attackers were stopped by a team of police and soldiers who are now following them.
