Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has inaugurated the newly constructed Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouse, which was built by his administration as part of its unprecedented changes to the state's legal system to make justice work better.

Governor Ugwuanyi named the building after Justice Raphael Chikwe Agbo, who is a Justice of the Court of Appeal. The building is in Enugu's Three Arms Zone of the Independence Layout. Governor Ugwuanyi congratulated the judge, who is from the state, on the "well-deserved honour.”

In his speech at the building's grand opening and naming ceremony, the state's Chief Judge, Justice Afojulu Raymond Ozoemena, thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for his administration's huge support of Enugu State's judiciary and said that the governor has been "very supportive."

Justice Ozoemena said, "The official opening of this magnificent building and its symbolism of amity, accord, and harmony is nothing less than a testimony to Your Excellency's commitment to the promotion of justice and peace in Enugu State."

So, the Chief Judge thanked the governor "for your unwavering support of the Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouse and the Enugu State Judiciary."

Continuing to praise the governor, he said, "The sheer strength of purpose and vision that has driven your administration and set it apart and above the rest has set a standard that will serve as a beacon for every generation and successive governments." You have disproved the idea that being average is bad for being a leader and shown that anyone who really wants to serve can. "This impressive building is meant to be a beacon of peace and a home for all peacemakers and peace-lovers in the area."

Justice Ozoemena also praised and thanked Justice Agbo for his continued support of the judiciary in Enugu State. He said that the building was named after him because of his unwavering support.

The Chief Judge also said that his predecessor, Justice Priscilla Ngozi Emehelu (who has since retired), was the brains behind the project, and he was happy that her idea has come to fruition.

In her speech, Mrs Caroline Etuk, the Director of the Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouse, said that Governor Ugwuanyi was "God's great workmanship to achieve this awesome feat." She also said, "If you didn't think it was important for this young organisation to have its own home, today would never have happened." Your help and commitment to this project were the sparks that got everything going. Your Excellency, we can't thank you enough.

Mrs Etuk said that the Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouse was created by the Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouse Law in 2018. She also said that Ugwuanyi officially opened the organisation on December 17, 2018.

She said that one of the organization's goals is to make it easier for people to get justice by giving them other ways to solve their problems besides going to court. Another goal is to be the centre for promoting alternative dispute resolution in Enugu State.

Justice Agbo, the President of the Enugu State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice George Chibueze Nnamani, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Miletus Eze, Justice Emehelu, and Mrs. Mabel Agbo, the Commissioner for Special Duties, will all be there.
