The 25,000 people who got money came from 305 electoral wards in Imo State's 27 local government areas.
But that's not everything. The governor will also give more than 128,466 people the power to vote next week. He said that this is part of his government's plan to help people who have had trouble because of the COVID-19 pandemic, rising inflation, flooding, and other problems caused by the global economic meltdown.
Governor Uzodimma said in his speech at the event in Owerri's Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square that his government is determined to get Imo State out of poverty and hardship.
He said that in the state, five people per polling unit will get an immediate alert of N30,000 and more alerts of the same amount over the next few months.
The governor also said that on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, the same programme would be used to give power to another group of 27 people per polling place in the state.
The governor said, "The Federal Government, in its wisdom, decided to work with the World Bank and the states to create a programme called "Nigeria Cares" to help people who are suffering because of the spread of cholera."
