Unknown gunmen burn cars in Imo.

Yesterday morning, individuals armed with firearms went into communities in Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Local Councils in Imo State and burned down some cars and motorcycles.
They also scared people who had signed up and were going to get their permanent voter cards (PVCs).

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) workers in Obowo who were handing out PVCs were reportedly scared.

At the time of the press, no one had been hurt. Remember that gunmen came into the area a few months ago during the last INEC registration exercise. They killed a member of the commission's staff and made the people who were registering lie down on their backs until the operation was over.

Last Monday, early in the morning, about 30 gunmen who haven't been caught yet climbed over a fence and broke into the Commission's headquarters on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri.

They set fire to a building, part of the main office, and two Hilux vehicles. When the police tried to stop the attackers, one of them was killed, two of them were killed, and some were caught alive.
