Recall that the assembly members were dismissed by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki as a result of their defection, but the lawmakers appealed the decision, and the Appeal Court has yet to render a decision on the matter several months after the dismissal.
The dismissal of the house leader had to do with pre-election issues and the legitimacy of his APC membership in the state.
During court proceedings, all of the reliefs requested by Barr Leonard Igboke in case No. FHC/AI/CS/163/2022 (Barr Leonard Nweke Igboke vs. Victor Uzoma Chukwu and 2 Others) were granted.
Justice Riman Fatum ruled that based on the decision rendered by the Honorable Justice H. A. Njoku of the Abakaliki High Court on May 24, 2022 (two days before the APC primary), the Honorable Victor Uzoma Chukwu allegedly joined the APC on the same day, following the close of the sale of nomination forms and screening of aspirants conducted by the APC in the state.
