Mr Ammani said this Thursday when he toured the communities with heads of various security services, according to police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe.
Wednesday and Thursday, suspected herders killed civilians and torched homes in the council area.
Mr Ndukwe said the heads of other security agencies who accompanied the police commissioner during the on-the-spot assessment visit were the General Commanding Officer (GCO), 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, M.K Ibrahim, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in the state, Olasoji Akinbayo.
Others included Council Chairman Obiora Obeagu and senior police and military authorities.
Police said a "unspecified number" were slain in Umuhu, Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Council Area.
Mr Ammani condoled with the families of victims killed by hoodlums in recent and past incidents.
The police commissioner told locals that kinetic and non-kinetic methods would be used to combat escalating insecurity.
He urged locals to be law-abiding and help find the assailants.
He also ordered more operational and intelligence resources to the area and SCID personnel to "thoroughly" probe the attacks.
The commissioner directed the operatives to "harmonise ongoing investigations with recent criminal events"
