Okoye disclosed this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
In the interview, he said, "Yes, the commission is under pressure. There is pressure from Nigerians to conduct elections that are free, fair, transparent, and inclusive.
Okoye stated that the dismissal of the INEC chairman is likewise a rigorous procedure.
He stated, "Allow me to clarify. The chairmanship of INEC is a position of great responsibility and constitutional protection. The procedure for selecting the chairman of INEC is quite rigorous. After putting forward nominations, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria sends them to the council of state.
"He then goes to the National Assembly for potential confirmation. Now, the method, technique, and mechanism for removing the chairman of INEC are also quite demanding. First, there must be an allegation that complies with the provisions of the constitution.
"Thereafter, the allegation must be presented to the president, and the president must now petition the National Assembly, in this case, the Senate, to dismiss the electoral administration body."
