Governor Soludo told the church to join hands with the government in spreading and driving the message of his administration to the grassroots during a Harvest and Bazaar Mass at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Amawbia.
According to the Governor, his administration promotes ecumenism in the Anambra project while maintaining that the body of Christ remains one.
"The Government House Chaplain, Father Raphael, conducts mass at the Governor's Lodge on Sundays, the Pentecostals lead service on Mondays, the Anglicans take their turn on Tuesdays, and then the Catholics take over," the Governor added.
The governor stated that his administration is working 24 hours a day, seven days a week to complete the task for which Ndi Anambra hired him. He advised church leaders to assist in spreading his government's message.
"I'm overjoyed with today's homily. It is necessary to keep the environment clean and to avoid throwing debris on the roads, which usually ends up blocking drainages and causing erosion. "Everyone has a role to play in moving Anambra forward," the governor said.
He informed the congregation of his administration's progress thus far, stating that a state of emergency has been declared on roads after awarding over 230 kilometres of road for construction, the presentation of appointment letters to 5,000 recruited teachers, and the recruitment of doctors and nurses for the hospital, among other things.
"Part of the code of conduct we are mainstreaming into public service is that in order to reduce undue pressure and eliminate the desire for corrupt practises in the public service, public servants are not permitted to partake in public donations," the governor said, "though, as a member of this parish, I'll answer my name on the register."
Ozonkpu Victor Oye, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, praised the Governor for identifying with the church to celebrate the harvest and bazaar.
Ozonkpu Oye also reminded Professor Soludo that during his campaign, he prophesied to him in front of the alter that God had anointed him to lead the state, and by the grace of God, he has returned to the same parish where he uttered the prophecy as Governor.
Ozonkpu prayed for Governor Soludo's success in his service to the state.
Senator Uche Ekwunife, who represents Anambra Central in the National Assembly, stated that she will always support the church.
She praised the governor for his recent recruitment of 5000 teachers in the state and stated that Governor Soludo's action was one that she is proud of.
The service was attended by the Governor's Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, the Chief of Protocol, Hon. Chinedu Nwoye, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, and the Member representing South Constituency Two in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, among others.
