It said in a statement issued on Monday by its publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, that it has never supported or been involved in any election sabotage or violence in Nigeria.
It stated that the only action it could take was to request that Ndigbo boycott the election if necessary.
"Neither IPOB nor ESN operatives have anything to do with Nigeria's fraudulent elections in 2023," the statement says. As a movement, we have never supported or participated in any election disruption or violence. The only thing we can do is call on our people to boycott voting if necessary. However, as of today, IPOB is uninterested in Nigeria and its electoral activities, and has never requested that anyone carry out any attack on our behalf.
"The Nigerian government and police linking IPOB and ESN to their sponsored attacks on INEC offices demonstrates that they are deluded, misguided, and deceitful, and are unaware of the norms on which IPOB operations are based."
