Enugu 2023: My Administration Will Prioritize Women, Children, Vulnerable – Mbah

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has stated that his administration, if elected in 2023, will prioritise the interests of children and the vulnerable in society.

Mbah, who made this known in Enugu, while receiving in audience the state executive members of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) maintained his incoming administration had designed robust programmes that will give them voices, meet their needs, and solve the existing socio-economic disparities by redistributing income and giving them opportunities to explore their potentials.

The business mogul who described women as complementary and supportive pillars in the society, promised to continue to support their cause for a better society.

He, therefore, reiterated his resolve to effectively partner with the women in a collective journey of growth, development and greatness for the state.

Mbah appreciated the women’s professional body for their resilience in the field of communications, saying one of the greatest tools of democracy is the media and its infrastructure for communications which enables an interface between leaders and members of the general public.

Charging the association to be proactive in discharging their profession as the fourth estate of the realm, Mbah lamented the heightened level of proliferation of fake news, adding that the greatest threat to civilisation and peaceful society is not a nuclear weapon but fake news.

Earlier in her address, the NAWOJ Chairman, Comr. (Mrs) Ngozi Ngene expressed excitement at the opportunity given to them to interact with the governorship hopeful on issues of concern to them.

She said the association comprised women journalists in all the media and information agencies in the state, adding that they were interested in gender inclusion and equity in society.

While extending an invitation to the governorship candidate to attend the association’s seminar on the “Role of Women in Peaceful Elections” scheduled to hold on 1st December 2022, the professional body said the event would also include the inauguration of its new executive members.
