NLC Writes Ikpeazu about worker and pensioner salary backlogs.

The NLC urged the governor to, without further delay, offset the huge unpaid salaries, allowances, and other entitlements owed workers and pensioners in the state in the interest of industrial peace.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), on Friday, vowed to deploy the full powers of trade unionism and Nigerian workers against the Abia State government if it fails to pay the accumulated 117 months salaries and 30 months pensions owed workers and pensioners in the State.

 The NLC, in a letter to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, signed by its President, Ayuba Wabba states thus: “It is on record that the Abia State government owes workers and pensioners in the following establishments: 

–  LG employees – 3 months

– ABSUTH staff – 23 months 

–  HMB staff – 13 months 

– Secondary School Teachers – 11 months; Primary School Teachers – 3 months

– Abia State Polytechnic staff – 30 months

– Abia State CoEd – 29 months

– Abia College of Health – 5 months

“Pensioners in Abia State – 30 months pension benefits

–  (Pensioners in the Judiciary sector are owed monthly pension benefits from February 2021 to date).
