SENATOR Stella Oduah of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Anambra North, has provided soft cash to over 15000 petty traders in her Senatorial District.

This was accomplished through her personal initiative, Ego Mbido Afia Scheme, an Empowerment Programme for Women, we care.

According to her office, the ladies were chosen from the seven local government areas that comprise her Senatorial District.

Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ogbaru, Oyi, Ayamelum, East, and West are the districts.

The women who praised her for the gesture, speaking through Chielo Emelda, described her as a mother, a true representative who is always there for the people without discrimination, as they could testify in front of everyone.

They told her that as a means of expressing thank you to her for having the hearts of her constituents and providing them with the essentials of life, they will fight to guarantee that she returns to the 10th Senate, despite the fact that the Senator is simply the best choice for them.

In her remarks, Oduah stated that the gesture was intended to increase their economic activities as well as help improve the women's well-being.

Senator Oduah emphasized the importance of establishing small-scale companies and empowerment programmes to combat extreme poverty and hunger at the grassroots level.

She emphasized, however, that democracy cannot exist in the midst of hardship, and that hunger, poverty, and violence can pose challenges to Nigeria's democracy if not addressed.
