Igbos stated to bury the retrogressive separatist notion

The people of the Southeast area have been urged to abandon the notion of secession and embrace peace, as this notion has been deemed retrograde.

The group Ndigbo Royal Heritage NIROH, chaired by Dr. Paul Okoye, has stated that individuals responsible for these initiatives should be counseled to follow the path of peace.

The President General of Worldwide met with reporters in Awka about the successful hosting of the Igbo unification project at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme square in Awka in December.

According to him, the discussion of secession by itself is retrogressive in light of the fact that 75 percent of Abuja's and 65 percent of Lagos' developments belong to Igbos.

"Cities such as Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, and others account for 40 to 50 percent of our infrastructure development."

"Based on this basis, Igbos must abandon any sort of separatist or divisive agenda and embrace Nigeria with newfound vigor and zeal."

Okoye lamented the deterioration of infrastructure in Igbo territory and the ruin of the southeast's economy as a result of ongoing instability and strike action.

The group stated that it was of the opinion that the administration was playing politics with insecurity and that nothing substantial was being done to combat the threat.

He stated that the Ndigbo were important stakeholders in the Nigerian grand design and played a vital part in the foundation of Nigeria, and that they could not afford to lose out or become marginalized in the nation's leadership.

"The purpose of Unity Day was to urge Igbos to take initiative wherever they are and quit playing second fiddle.

"The politics of bemoaning and assigning blame are toxic and will never lead us anywhere." We have spent so much in Nigeria to leave the Nigerian project,” Okoye stated.
