Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has given the People's Democratic Party permission to hold its Presidential Campaign rally at the State Stadium for free.

The rally is set to happen in Abakaliki on January 26, 2023.

In a letter to the Governor on January 20, 2023, called "Notice of Presidential Rally of the People's Democratic Party in Ebonyi State," the PDP asked to use the Pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium and agreed to pay the fees set by the Executive Order in effect in the State.

In response, Governor Umahi got rid of the fees and told the Acting Chairman of the State Board of Internal Revenue not to charge the Party anything.

He also told the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development to let the Party use the facility without any restrictions.

Also, the Governor asked his party, the All Progressives Congress, to move the campaign event that was planned for the same day in the facility to another place to make room for the PDP.

He then told the State Commissioner of Police about the event and told him, as the State's top security officer, to make sure the Party had enough security.

As part of the Governor's policy of being open to everyone, he had already given the go-ahead for the Labour Party's Presidential Rally, which has not yet happened in the State.
