The Nigerian Army's 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze, Owerri, reaffirms its commitment to protecting the lives of Imo voters during and after the General Elections.

The Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Sani Sulaiman, stated this on Saturday at the Obinze Barracks during the 2022 edition of the West African Social Activities (WASA).

Sulaiman added that the brigade would do everything within its legal authority to safeguard the will of the populace. He urged other security agencies to "stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the army" to guarantee a secure atmosphere for a trouble-free election campaign.

"Our dedication to protecting the lives and property of Imo voters is unwavering.

"We applaud the state's security services for their assistance in 2022 and urge them to do much more in this election year," he said.

The commander of the brigade also commended Governor Hope Uzodima for his tremendous support of the Nigerian Army and the brigade, especially during Nigerian Army Day celebrations.

He also complimented Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff, for providing the logistics necessary for effective security in the state. He also commended Major-General Umar Musa, the General Officer Commanding the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army, and retired generals for their continued mentoring of the brigade.

Uzodimma congratulated the brigade for their persistent efforts, which led to the restoration of peace and security in Imo.

He committed to continuing to support the military and all of its operations. He communicated to the brigade the condolences of the citizens and administration of Imo for the loss of troops in the line of duty.

Mr. C. C. Osuala, Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning, and Statistics, represented the governor. The event's highlights included the presenting of prizes to seven exceptional soldiers for their valor and dedication in 2022.
