This is what Soludo said in an interview on Channels TV's Politics Today, which our correspondent watched on Thursday.
He told Peter Obi, "I hope the best for you. Let him go compete like everyone else," "We (APGA) are also in the same race. We have our own candidate, Peter Umeadi, who is also a native of the area and also comes from Anambra State. He will do his own part and get his own votes."
The governor talked about an article he wrote in November 2022 in which he said that Obi might win in Anambra but won't win the presidential election overall.
He said, "In that article, I even thought Peter Obi might win in the state of Anambra. "Yes, I did say that."
Soludo, on the other hand, didn't think Obi would win the presidential election next month.
Governor Soludo, who is the new national leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), said he has given Obi, who was governor from 2006 to 2014, all the help a state government can give to a former governor.
The governor of Anambra said that he has been fair to all parties that are running for office in the state and that he has not stopped them from using state facilities for rallies.
Remember that Soludo and Obi were at odds over the economy and investments in Anambra.
Soludo, the governor of Anambra, said that the investments Obi left behind are worth almost nothing.
He said Obi couldn't win the 2023 presidential election because there are "two people/parties seriously running for president": Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
But in his reply, Obi said that he didn't do much as governor of Anambra and told Soludo that he should do his best as an economics professor in the state.
After the tirade, the two met at a public event in Awka, where they embraced each other. Many people have called this a "move toward reconciliation."
