Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has urged his South East neighbours to modify their national political mindset, reminding everyone, especially women, that the time to make a decision that will benefit them and their children is now.

Governor Uzodimma addressed All Progressives Congress women at the South East Zonal event organised by the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team on Tuesday at Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri.

The South East Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team, Imo State First Lady Chioma Uzodimma, reminded her colleagues that the APC had done well and needed to cement its wins.

Thus, Mrs. Uzodimma advised women to vote for the APC in the upcoming elections, arguing that the Party's presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a decent man who can cement the Party's successes. Mrs. Uzodimma reminded the crowd that the rally aimed to emphasise the benefits women will receive if they vote for Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, in the upcoming general election.

“APC has succeeded well and that Tinubu is a good candidate that will consolidate and expand on the numerous achievements,” she said.

“With Tinubu and Shettima as President and Vice there would be enhanced women engagement in government at all levels,” the Imo First Lady said, urging women to vote APC.

She then instructed them: “Go and get your PVCs if you have not and those whose PVCs are old should look for them and clean them up. The APC is a rare breed that we must work hard to keep and maximise.”

Mrs. Uzodimma guaranteed South East APC ladies of Tinubu/and Shettima's all APC candidates' election victories.

“The South East politicians must not only consider for themselves but for their children and their future,” Governor Uzodimma remarked at the event.

“It is time to take a decision,” the Governor told the women, congratulating them on the rally.

He said the South East "has elected to be part of the broader Nigeria" to put her people at the centre of national decision-making.

“South East Nigerian Project is excellent. South East has chosen Nigeria due of its many perks.

The Governor emphasised that APC will "conduct a cohesive campaign that will carry all competitors along at the same time."

He predicted a complete APC victory in the South East, arguing that women will have it easier now that APC is in charge nationally.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, chairperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team and wife of a presidential candidate, was excited about the sea of women heads that graced the occasion and surprised at the level of development in Imo State under Uzodimma. She urged the women to remain committed to the APC in Imo and Nigeria.

She complimented Mrs. Uzodimma and the Governor for the large number of ladies who attended the programme and praised the Imo State Governor for his support of the APC in the South East and Nigeria.

“Tinubu/Shettima are God-fearing and will deliver on their mandate to make Nigeria better,” Mrs. Tinubu said Nigerians.

Her husband will “give the women programmes on skills, equip those who will wish to go into farming, increase education and most significantly, ensure that women occupy juicy positions in his government,” she said.

“Everyone will be carried along in their government.”

She prayed for peace in the South East, which she stated is inevitable since Tinubu called it the "industrial hub of Nigeria."

Dr. Betta Edu, APC National Women Leader, and Dr. Macdonald Ebere, APC State Chairman, Imo State, informed the women that South East is intact for Tinubu/Shettima and other APC candidates in the upcoming election.

As a sign of respect for culture and tradition, the Team visited HRM, Eze (Dr.) Emmanuel Okeke, Eze-Imo, and his Cabinet at the Eze Imo Palace, Mbari Street Owerri.

At the courtesy visit, Mrs. Tinubu told the Imo monarchs that they came to ask their royal blessings and prayers for their rally in Owerri.

Eze Okeke, Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, praised them for paying him a courtesy call and blessed them on their mission.

He reminded them that as traditional rulers, they are non-partisan, but as citizens of Nigeria, they know good from wrong and will always support Tinubu/Shettima.

The rally was attended by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, and his wife, Bola, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and his wife, members of the expanded Executive Council, National Women Coordinators, South East Women Coordinators, some women Ministers, and Mrs. Salamatu Gbajabiamila, wife of the House Speaker.
