This was declared by ADC in a statement signed by Chilos Godsent, national vice chairman for the South East, in Owerri, the state capital.
He condemned the unwarranted and savage attack on the residence of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
The statement reads as follows: "Therefore, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) South East Zone challenges the ruling All Progressives Congress-led government of Imo State to rise to its responsibility to properly address the increasing state of insecurity in Imo State and to stop playing with the lives of the people in the State.
"The insecurity in Imo State has led to a precipitous drop in business and economic activity in the state, making life extremely tough for its citizens.
"We cannot continue to watch while people are routinely butchered like chickens in Imo and, by implication, South East.
"ADC calls on the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force to promptly rebuild all of the Divisional Police Stations that were destroyed by the criminal actions of gunmen," the statement read. "This would assist to enhance the safety of life and property in the South East Region."
