During a Sunday broadcast in Owerri commemorating his three years in power, Uzodimma stated that he inherited no documents of handover from Ihedioha.
He expressed delight that the dark clouds that had previously obscured the governance process have given way to a new age of transparent, inclusive, and responsible governance.
He stated, "The Imo State we encountered upon assuming office in January 2020 is best defined as something very close to the political definition of a failed state, although on a sub-national scale.
"From all appearances, we encountered a state with a decrepit infrastructure, a dysfunctional staff, and a profoundly depressed and traumatised citizenry. There was hardly a motorable road in the entire state. In particular, the state capital of Owerri was riddled with impassable roads and decaying government buildings.
"The Civil Service was a prime example of an institution with no regard for rules and due process. As a result, the Civil Service's production and repute fell to zero. This breakdown was a significant blow to our pride and reputation for a state like Imo, which was known for its competent and trustworthy civil service.
"The general public, disheartened by the government's inexplicable failure, descended into absolute depression and hopelessness, like sheep without a shepherd. "The situation was indeed that horrible."
He stated, "Today, Imo citizens from all walks of life are aware of how their government operates. They have entered the process of governance.
"The dark clouds that once veiled the process of governance have given way to a new era of a transparent, inclusive, and responsible governing process.
