2023 Presidency: Anambra Monarchs Support Peter Obi

Comments · 534Views

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has received the backing of Anambra's traditional rulers.

In response to the LP candidate's address to them at the Government House in Awka prior to his campaign in Anambra State, the monarchs stated that although they are not politicians, they want the best for their people.

Sunday Okafor, the Igwe of Okpuno, prayed that God would grant the former governor of Anambra his desire of being the next president of the country.

The monarch's father stated, "We are not politicians and do not engage in politics." We have known Obi when he was the governor of the state of Anambra and have watched his excellent performance.

"We praise you for running for this post, and we urge you to continue seeking the support of the people. We are supporting you".

Obasanjo Has Malicious Intentions Toward Peter Obi. Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is attempting to do to Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi what he did to late President Umar Musa Yar'Adua.

Adebayo, who claimed he was not shocked by Obasanjo's endorsement of the former Anambra governor, stated that in Obasanjo's opinion, Obi "is just an extension of his body, similar to what he attempted to do with the late President Umaru Yar'Adua."

In an eight-page open letter dated January 1, Obasanjo publicly endorsed the Labour Party presidential candidate and urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to vote for the former governor of Anambra State in the 2023 general election.

Obasanjo stated that while none of the presidential candidates are saints, Obi stands out among the likes of Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC); Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC); and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) (NNPP).

According to information obtained by Naija News, the endorsement of Obasanjo has subsequently elicited conflicting reactions from various political actors, with some of them dismissing it as having no value.

Adebayo, speaking about Obasanjo's selection on Wednesday during a virtual interactive session with Nigerians organised by Rudolf Okonkwo, characterised the endorsement as merely a public confirmation of a system that the retired General himself devised and executed from the outset.

According to him, Obasanjo's endorsement of Peter Obi was just him being true to himself.

Prince Adebayo stated, "It is not reasonable for anyone to act as if they are astonished that he supports a campaign that he created and has been sustaining and gathering cash for." He agreed that what Obasanjo did was nothing new, as he is the de facto director of the Peter Obi campaign. The former director general (Doyin Okupe) and the current director general both represent him.

The SDP presidential candidate reaffirmed his esteem for the official's freedom to support any candidate of his choosing. However, he noted that Obasanjo's actions, both in and out of office, created the foundation for the nation's current issues.
