If elected, he promised the throng, his administration would create prosperity and secure the country.
The one-time governor said the Aso Villa in Abuja should not be a retirement home for individuals he labelled "weary politicians".
Speaking at the All Saints Cathedral field at his party's presidential campaign launch, Obi said the combination of himself and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, put him ahead of other candidates.
He and his running mate were hailed as wealth builders with the ability to manage the nation's resources well.
"All we're come to do is stop suffering and build a new Nigeria," Obi stated. Nobody is safe in Nigeria today; families are begging for food. Nigeria will be secure and united.
"What I did in Anambra, I will do throughout Nigeria. We will bargain. But whomever refuses, we will inform him that there is a government.
"Onitsha is a commercial and manufacturing centre. We will provide assistance to all firms in the state. The same will be done in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, and Borno. Nigeria will be productive in every region.
"We shall pave the way. I tarred every road in Onitsha; I developed the best road network in Nigeria. Those who fled Nigeria will return. If we take power, we will be forced to export in order to stabilise and reverse the naira.
"The distinction between us and others is that there is no mixture. You can't manage wealth if you haven't produced it. Datti and I are business partners. Nigeria can only change if it is handed up to wealth creators.
"What we plan to do will astound everyone. They say I'm frugal. Who do you prefer, those who stole or those who saved them? We would not be where we are today if our previous leaders had been stingy.
"The more you employ people, the more you lift them out of poverty. In Nigeria, I will tackle poverty and out-of-school children. Nigeria will celebrate me throughout the country.
"The task of a leader is not to whine but to create answers. We will not remind you of your past, but rather construct your future. We shall use factor endowment, benefiting from oil in the south and groundnut in the north, among other things."
The LP candidate also promised to expand the country's international airports to six, as well as to prevent flooding by dredging the rivers Niger and Benue.
"We will assure cops won't hassle you again. "We will hire more educated officers and train them to interact with the public," he stated.
Datti-Ahmed stated that his decision to join Obi on the LP ticket was motivated by Obi's conviction in justice, equality, and fairness.
He encouraged Nigerians to hold them accountable if they failed to keep their promises, maintaining that the February 25 election was a foregone conclusion.
