Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, has provided insight into why the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting on February 25, 2023 are crucial for Nigeria and its citizens.

Obi stated in a special broadcast he made on Thursday via his social media account that all Nigerians, young and old, must collect their PVCs because, without them, what the youths and many other concerned parties desire for Nigeria this year may not be attainable.

According to Obi, PVCs must be collected because we cannot begin the process of reclaiming and reconstructing Nigeria until we have them in our possession.

"This is a crucial and existential election for Nigeria, and we must all vote; nevertheless, we cannot vote without our PVCs."

The LP candidate, one of the frontrunners in the election on February 25, 2023, reminded Nigerians that the deadline for collecting PVCs is Sunday, January 22, 2023.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began collecting PVCs at the ward level on Friday, January 6, 2023. This collection would continue at the INEC offices at the local government level till Friday, January 22, 2023.

The former governor of Anambra State has continued to get the support and approval of important Nigerians in the meantime.

After the three elder statesmen – former President Olusegun Obasanjo, first Republic Minister of Information and leader of the South-South people, Edwin K. Clark; and the leader of the umbrella Yoruba Group, the Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo – endorsed him, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), Founder and Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, has declared that Obi is the most qualified Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a respected Northern Muslim preacher, held similar views.

According to Babalola, the only individuals who oppose Obi are those who contributed to the country's current condition of underdevelopment.

"Unless you are part of the old system that has gotten us to where we are, there is no way you will oppose Mr. Peter Obi, a young, untainted, educated guy with presidential ambitions," he stated.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Babalola's call to the bar as a lawyer. According to Babalola, he and Obi share a commitment for a great education.

"There is a point of agreement between us, and that is that he will give education its due place in his administration. Unlike you guys, I have never attended secondary school or university, yet I have persevered thanks to my desire and fortitude. I achieved my 'A' Levels and university entrance through correspondence, as well as studied privately through correspondence.

"Without education, I would not be where I am now; therefore, I am what I am today by the grace of God after a successful practise. This year will mark the 60th anniversary of my call to the bar, and by the grace of God, Peter Obi will be present. He is the best-qualified candidate to govern this nation."
