The senator, who represents the Imo West Senatorial District, encouraged individuals to dismiss the rumour. The statement reads, "We were alerted to a report that Okorocha had joined the PDP.
"Those responsible for the bogus news also included an image of Okorocha, Emeka lhedioha, and others.
"They omitted the location and occasion where the shot was taken on purpose." They could not also quote Okorocha's speech, as he is not an idiot and must have spoken at the ceremony.
"We assert with confidence that Okorocha has not joined the PDP. He remains an All Progressives Congress member (APC). A funeral service could not have been transformed into a political rally."
"On Friday, December 30, 2022, Kingsley Uju, who represents the federal constituency of Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West, lost his mother, Lolo Caroline Uju, in her hometown of Egbema.
"Uju was appointed by Okorocha. He served Okorocha and his government in a variety of capacities, including as Deputy Chief of Staff and anchorman in the oil-producing regions of the state.
"Okorocha also played a significant role in his election to the House of Representatives on the APC ticket." According to the statement, Uju joined the PDP after he found that his second-term ticket could not be secured in the APC, and he was successful in obtaining the PDP ticket.
It was also stated that Okorocha would not have urged him to abandon his candidature for a second term under the circumstances.
It stated: "Okorocha would not have skipped the funeral due to Uju's current political party. That would have been incredibly uncharitable and inconceivable, especially considering that LGBT people do not play politics with death and burial, despite the fact that the opposite appears to be the case these days."
