After Ohakim escaped, gunmen opened fire on his vehicle and used explosives to target the police escort. Four police officers were killed.
Ohakim recalls narrowly avoiding death during the tragedy in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area.
He stated that the convoy was attacked at Umualumaku while travelling between Isiala Mbano and Ehime Mbano.
According to the former governor, they were attacked from behind with a volley of gunfire.
"I was with two of my children—a son and a daughter—and I believed I was dead."
"The bulletproof car saved my life." "I am alive today because of God's particular favour," he remarked.
According to Ohakim, the assailants chased and resumed shooting at the run-flat tyres.
"You can drive even if you have a flat tyre." "They would have cornered and ended us if they were regular tyres," he continued.
Ohakim verified the deaths of the four security guards and their driver.
The lawmaker expressed his shock at the murder.
Ohakim emphasised that the issue "exceeds the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)."
"These people are experts." They were driving a blue BMW 5-series sedan. "They came to murder me," he stated emphatically.
