The group's stance was in opposition to an earlier declaration by Simon Ekpa of Finland.
Comrade Ndubuisi Igwekani, alias Agu Biafra, leader of the IPOB youth wing, told the media in Enugu on Tuesday that the Biafra group will not meddle with the electoral process and that the will of Nigerian youths will be respected.
"Nigerians evicted Peter Obi, and their intention is sincere: to reclaim Nigeria.”
"South-East cannot be a stumbling hurdle if they have selected Peter Obi. "We cannot be perceived as the issue," he stated.
Igwekani urged Ekpa to rescind any injunction prohibiting the peaceful conduct of elections in the South-East if he is sincere about joining the fight.
He said that a committee had been established to monitor the security situation in the southeastern states in order to locate the murderers.
"We will also establish a security network to monitor their actions and ensure that those criminals hiding under the Biafra fight in order to commit crimes are apprehended and turned over to security officials.”
"If Simon Ekpa is on our side, if he is truly fighting for freedom, and if he demonstrates that he is not involved in the killings in the South-East, he must rescind his instructions against the election in the South.”
"Enough with the bloodletting in the South-East.” We want to identify those responsible for the murders and expose them.
"We cannot permit ongoing murders in the name of the Biafra conflict. The purpose of the struggle is to liberate our people, not to murder them.
"We also advise the government that Nnamdi Kanu must be freed before to the election. A man who arrived to save his people was detained. He needs to be set free.
"We are in discussions with authentic men of God, authentic traditional rulers, and authentic politicians to ensure that nothing happens to the IPOB leader.” He warned that it would not bode well for our nation if something were to happen to him.
