Dr. Nkechi Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State's wife, praised the state House of Assembly for adopting the disability bill into law
Her Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Chika Ojiegbe, in a statement, yesterday, stated that the first lady described the House of Assembly as one populated by legislators who have the interest of Abians at heart and are working for them.
He added that Mrs. Ikpeazu commended the sponsors of the bill, Paul Taribo, representing Ukwa East Constituency, the Executive Director of Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, Mr. David Anyaele, the people living with disability in Abia, and other stakeholders for their roles in supporting the passage of the bill.
“Mrs. Ikpeazu has shown deep passion towards the passage of the bill. She, on July 15, 2021, addressed members of the state House of Assembly while in session on the need to pass the law. It is not surprising that they passed the bill just as they also passed the human rights bill, cited as ‘Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP),’ which was promoted by the first lady with the same sense of commitment.
