Ikpeazu threatens striking Abia employees with 'no-work, no-pay'

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has made it clear that he intends to make the "no work, no pay" rule the official state policy

Chris Ezem, the Secretary to the State Government, issued a statement in which he expressed worry over certain government entities' use of strike as the only option to press their demands. This statement was the vehicle via which the governor's threat was communicated to the public.

He argued that strikes were ineffective in achieving their goals.

Ikpeazu emphasised that even though the government is prepared to pay all workers their entitlements, it will resist any attempt by politicians to blackmail and undermine the well-being of innocent citizens by politicising workers' welfare. The government will do this even though it is prepared to pay all workers their entitlements.
