He said that he would use the huge wealth that God had given him to bring prosperity to all three senatorial districts of Kogi.
Mr. Obi made the promise on Tuesday in Lokoja, Kogi's capital, at the LP presidential rally.
He was hopeful that a working Ajaokuta steel project would, among other things, put millions of unemployed young people to work and boost the economy.
"The steel industry is very important for the growth of the economy," he said. "Once we are sworn in, we will work with professionals and experts who know what to do with the Ajaokuta steel company."
In terms of security, Mr. Obi promised that his government would protect the country from criminals, keep it from falling apart, and bring its people together so that the country could once again be seen as a single family, as it was many years ago.
He said that the LP government would make sure that the rule of law and human rights were deeply rooted in the country. This would mean that no one would be mistreated.
Concerning the well-being of workers, the LP candidate promised Nigerians that they would work together with state governments to pay workers' minimum wages and other benefits that had been delayed. This would boost their morale and make them more productive.
In terms of agriculture, the former governor of Anambra State said that Kogi was a geopolitical entity that could feed itself and process its agricultural goods for export, which would help reduce poverty and bring the state to a very high level of prosperity.
Mr. Obi said again that if he was elected, he would change Nigeria from a country of consumers to a country of producers.
He asked the people of Kogi to do the right thing and vote for LP candidates at all levels, promising them that together they would make Nigeria great.
"If they give you money, take it and vote against them because it's your money." Tell them you are tired of being in the wilderness and want to follow people who know the way.
"The 2023 election will be about character, competence, and who has the physical and mental strength and your trust to bring prosperity to Nigeria."
Mr. Obi told them, "Tell them that the 2023 election is not about religions or tribes, but about how well our country is doing."
In his speech, Ahmed Datti, who is Mr. Obi's running mate, asked voters to get their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and vote for all LP candidates.
"Only the party can change the story and end poverty, hunger, and other bad things that are happening in the country."
"We will keep our words. If you elect us to power next year, you should be responsible for what we do and what we don't do."
Nigerians should give us their votes because Mr. Datti promised, "We will take the country from poverty to wealth, stop the killing, and start the healing."
Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the party, also told voters to vote for the party. He said, "LP is what Nigeria needs to solve her many social, economic, and political problems."
Aisha Yesufu, the leader of the "Bring Back Our Girls" campaign, was on the presidential campaign train and told the huge crowd, "Nigeria needs Peter Obi because he has the courage to deal with the problems in the country."
"We are no longer safe in our own homes. We need good governance, so we must vote for someone we can hold accountable."
"Our lives need to be made better, and we need to vote for someone who can do that. Peter Obi is that person."
"Nigerian youths are tired of having to know someone to get a job. Vote for inclusiveness, and let Nigeria have a president who is competent and can get things done," Ms. Yesufu said.
The rally was attended by people from the 21 local government areas of Kogi and other parts of society, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
