Police tightens security in Enugu, Anambra

In schools, markets, mosques, and churches in Enugu and Anambra States, security has been tightened because gunmen keep killing and attacking people in some areas.
AIG Abutu Yaro, who is in charge of the police headquarters for Zone 13 in Ukpo, Anambra State, said this on Tuesday

The head of the police force gave orders for patrols in these important places and along the borders between the two states.

He asked the police commissioners in the zone to make sure that patrols in their areas were more visible.

Nkeiruka Nwode, the police officer in charge of public relations for Zone 13, said these things in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement says, "In response to the security threats available to the Zonal Command, he tells all the operational and tactical officers in the zone to increase visibility patrols in vulnerable areas like markets, places of worship, schools, recreation and event centres, as well as entry and exit points of the two states and the whole public space."

"The AIG also tells highway patrol to make sure that patrols in the two adjourned states work well together without using state lines. He also told commuters to go out and do their legal jobs, and he asked community leaders, vigilantes, hunters, and other local security groups to work more closely with the police in the two states to get rid of the criminals who were causing trouble.

"AIG Abutu Yaro, therefore, told the good people of Anambra and Enugu States to ignore illegitimate restraining orders because they are meant to make people afraid as they go about their daily lives. He also urged them to stand together against forces who illegally take arms from innocent citizens."
