Obiora Okonkwo, the director of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council in the state, spoke at a press conference in Awka on Wednesday. Okonkwo, who was standing next to the Chairman of the Council, Chief Ben Obi, said that the start of the presidential campaign in Awka will show that Anambra is a PDP state.
He said that when Atiku and his team get to Awka, they will go to the government house to see the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo. Okonkwo said that after Atiku talks with the governor, he will meet with traditional rulers, led by Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, the traditional ruler of Onitsha and chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council.
He also said that a special team has been put together to try to fix the disagreement between their candidate and the G5 governors.
Okonkwo stated that efforts were being made to bring Atiku and the G5 governors together and that Anambra State was also on track to give Atiku a total victory in the 2023 election. He also said that Atiku would open the presidential campaign office at Kwata Junction in Awka.
From there, he would go to the Senator Uche Ekwunife Event Centre for a meeting with people from all over the state. Okonkwo said that the visit would end with the campaign kickoff in Awka's Alex Ekwueme Square.
