At the Wednesday inauguration of the Anambra State Obi/Datti presidential campaign committee in Awka, Okeke-Ogene, who is also the South East Zonal Coordinator, emphasised that support for Obi in the Southeast was driven by Nigerians and not by Ndigbo.
He stated, "We don't want our support for Peter Obi to become an Igbo issue, and we are not supporting him because he is an Igbo." Ohaneze fully endorses the Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti ticket. We wholeheartedly support it "in and out."
"The Yorubas support the Obi/Datti ticket; they are even the leading supporters of the ticket in the interest of the nation." They stated that Ndigbo must now pay for supporting Abiola and Obasanjo.
They're appreciative that we gave them 90% of the vote.
Why are the Igbo not supporting the movement?
Okeke-Ogene characterised the Obidient Movement as a divine intervention to save Nigeria from total collapse and insisted that Nigerians had made the irreversible decision to reclaim their country.
He added, "God, not any individual, is driving this movement." I've never encountered it in Nigeria. We work for ourselves and the future of this great nation, not for Peter Obi.
"Peter Obi is not seeking anything; with two grown children, he is not seeking means to educate them; rather, he is seeking to restructure Nigeria for the benefit of all."
"I implore the members of the campaign committee to work harder to make this wonderful dream a reality."
State party chairman Ogochukwu Eneh congratulated the members and urged them to work hard to ensure the party's victory shortly after the inauguration.
Chief Joe Martin Uzodike, State Coordinator/General Director of the Obi-Datti presidential campaign committee, disclosed that there were more than 800 members.
He stated that all party candidates were automatically committee members and urged them to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to prevent Nigeria's further decline.
Barr. Okoli Akrika, secretary of the Anambra Campaign Committee, thanked the party for deeming them deserving of leading the campaign and pledged to deliver.
