The Enugu State Police Command, which confirmed the incident on Friday, identified the victim as Amarachi Chukwu (32).
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe, said that Osuagwu was caught on Nov. 8 in the Nekede area of Owerri, Imo, by police detectives from the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Enugu and police officers from the Imo Command.
Ndukwe said the 22-year-old was attempting to sell a Toyota Corolla car he stole from his older female friend after killing her at her house on Nov. 1.
"Investigation revealed that the suspect and his unknown cohort conspired and went to the victim's house in the morning hours of the mentioned date, attempted to steal her Toyota Corolla key, which she resisted."
"And when she resisted, they tied her hands, legs, and mouth with clothes, locked her inside the house, and drove away."
He further stated that her remains were found after the door was forced open by police operatives on November 4.
The police spokesman added that the suspect had been arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations and had been remanded in the Enugu Custodial Center pending a hearing of the case.
