Archbishop Chukwuma: The Buhari administration is the most corrupt in Nigerian history.

Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese in the Anglican Communion, has again said that President Muhammadu Buhari's government is the most corrupt in the country's history.

Monday night, Chukwuma talked to journalists in Enugu. He said that the Buhari administration had failed to fight corruption.

The cleric said it was sad that the country's problems had gotten worse under a government that was elected on the promise that it would fight corruption and improve the economy.

He said, "When Buhari took office, he promised change, and we welcomed him. But Nigerians are seeing the opposite of what was promised: things are getting worse."

"The level of corruption is high." Too much theft and money laundering is going on in this government.

"Corrupt officials who are charged and arrested are not put in jail; even those who were locked up by the previous administration have been released."

"We heard that billions of dollars in stolen goods had been found; where is it?" Because of this, I said the government is too bad. "They are stealing money that was already stolen."

The Daily Post says that earlier this year, the Buhari government let out of jail two former state governors who had stolen money from the government.

Joshua Dariye was governor of Plateau State from 1999 to 2007, and Jolly Nyame was governor of Taraba State from 1999 to 2007.

In April of this year, the Council of State gave pardons to 159 people who had been convicted of crimes.

Archbishop Chukwuma said that what happened was a clear sign that the government wasn't serious about fighting corruption.

He also made fun of the government for the country's rising inflation and how essential goods had become too expensive for most people to buy.

"Inflation is now higher than it has ever been. Now, a litre of gasoline costs between N250 and N300.

"Salaries aren't being paid because many states haven't put the minimum wage into place yet."

"Brain drain is at its highest level. All medical officials have left the country, and the government keeps going as if everything is fine."

"The only thing this government cares about is taking out loans every day. We don't know how they'll pay back the debt, and we don't even know what they're doing with the loans."

"Theft of oil has gotten worse." Why should the ship that was found be set on fire? That would be getting rid of proof. "Some people are supposed to be fired for doing that, but nothing has happened," he said.

Chukwuma told voters in the 2023 general elections, "Look for people with pedigree to get us out of this mess." We are slaves to corruption, insecurity, a failing education system, inflation, and a bad economy.

"It's upsetting that people are even worried that the election won't happen." We should ask God to help us out.

"All old politicians should leave office because they don't have anything to offer." "We want a new bottle for a new bottle of wine."

But he told Nigerians not to give up and to keep praying.

"Now that Advent has started and Christmas and the New Year are coming up, it's important for me to share this message.

"Nigerians should move closer to God and trust him to help. "Let's work together to make Nigeria great.

He also condemned the attack on some communities in Eha-Amufu in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, which killed several people.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's efforts were being sabotaged, he said, so he demanded that the security chiefs in the state be fired right away.

"Some of these security men aren't helping us; they seem to support the people who are killing our people," he said.
