According to reports, three police officers were killed by unidentified gunmen on Saturday morning in Agbani.
The Commissioner claimed that the police officers were killed by armed thugs believed to be IPOB/ESN renegades who operated a Lexus Jeep and Toyota Tundra, numbering around 15. DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the State Command's police public relations officer, provided the statement to journalists.
Following their recent attacks and gruesome murder of Security Operatives and innocent State citizens, he claimed the visit would help him assess and re-plan how to further contain the evil activities of the subversive criminal elements.
He claimed that preliminary investigations indicated that the same thugs were behind the attack and shooting in the thigh of a filling station manager, the kidnapping of a male victim, and the theft of another person's vehicle on November 17 and 18, 2022, all in the Ibagwa-Nike and Alulu-Nike axis of East LGA.
He said, “Similarly, the Commissioner also visited Nkpokolo-Achi in Oji-River LGA, were a suspected network of the same subversive criminal elements, said to have infiltrated into the area from neighbouring Anambra State community on Friday and attacked and murdered one Gabriel Onuzulike (m), identified as former Chairman of Oji-River LGA and Commissioner in the Enugu State Government, and his brother.
“They were, however pursued, intercepted and engaged in a fierce gunfight at Inyi community of the same LGA, by a Joint Police/Army Team, as they were escaping back to Anambra State.
