Offor Uchenna, native of Olokoro in Umuahia South, Abia State, was stabbed on the right side of his chest, below his breast, by a soldier attached to a Chinese construction company in Umuahia, Abia State.
An altercation erupted between the two around Umuahia railway station around 10 a.m. on Saturday, following the soldier's inability to pay for goods previously purchased before purchasing a new one.
"The soldier slapped the man, who then grabbed the soldier by the uniform," said one eyewitness, adding that the soldier then stabbed him with his bayoyet.
When contacted, the Police PRO in charge of Abia State command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident, saying that investigation has commenced.
All efforts to get a reaction from the Army Command at Ohafia proved abortive.
