The Ugwuanyi administration recently renovated the facilities.
The refurbishment of the NUJ Enugu Press Centre by Ugwuanyi's government is the facility's first involvement in 30 years.
Following the inauguration of the "Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi NUJ Enugu Press Centre" named after him, the governor examined the work completed by his government and pledged more interventions that would make the facility more favourable for journalists and the general public to utilise amid celebration.
The Chairman of the NUJ, Enugu State Chapter, Mr Sam Udekwe, thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for the extraordinary intervention, saying the governor's action was a surprise present for the journalists and a dream come true.
Udekwe characterised Ugwuanyi as a jinx-breaker and promise-keeper, emphasising that his marks at the centre would be indelible in the history of journalism in Enugu State in particular and the country in general.
"Your Excellency, we sincerely appreciate you for this excellent intervention." We never imagined it coming from you. This has been our dream, and it is now a reality. "You have done us proud, sir, and we thank you," the NUJ chairman stated.
Speaking on the project, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Greg Nnaji, an engineer, said that the state government's involvement followed Governor Ugwuanyi's visit to the institution, which was then in disrepair.
Nnaji, who described the project as in its early stages, revealed that "the previous intervention was around three decades ago," emphasising Ugwuanyi's Midas touch in all he undertakes.
Hon. Augustine Nnamani, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Dr Tony Okam were in attendance.
