Ndiigboworldwide had previously reported that INEC had removed Sen. Igwe Nwagu, Sen. Odii's running mate, and their names off the list of candidates in its amendment number two, which was released on December 22, 2022.
In that second amendment, INEC designated Henry Chima Udeh as the Labour Party's (LP) nominee for the Ebonyi South senate seat, citing a court order.
It equally delisted the names of all National Assembly candidates of the PDP for the constituencies in the state, except one.
However, in the third amendment released yesterday and signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the electoral umpire named Mr. Linus Okorie, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the senatorial candidate of LP for Ebonyi South.
INEC in the third amendment listed Mr. Irem Ibom Oka, a former state Chairman of the PDP, as candidate of the party for Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency.
The name of the current occupant of the seat, Mr. Iduma Igariwey, was listed as the candidate of the party in the original list released on September 20, 2022.
INEC also listed the name of the member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Constituency, Anayo Edwin, as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the constituency, in place of Mr. Joseph Nwobashi.
PDP campaign council in the state has hailed the amended list released by INEC.
A statement signed yesterday by the Director, Media and Publicity of the party’s Campaign Council, Abia Onyike, said the publication of Odii’s name had vindicated the party.
